Interlibrary Loan (ILL) at the Redondo Beach Public Library

Books and magazine articles not in the collection may also be ordered through interlibrary loan (ILL) at the Reference Desk.  There is a $3.00 search fee for this service, which must be paid in advance.  There may be additional fees charged by the lending library.  Audiovisual materials are not available through ILL.  Renewals are only permitted if allowed by the owning agency.

  • ILL is provided to obtain print materials or microforms not owned by the Library.  Audiovisual materials may not be requested for ILL.
  • You may submit up to five ILL requests at one time.  You may not submit an ILL request if you have fines totaling more than $10.00
  • There is a $3.00 charge (non-Redondo Beach residents only) per request for interlibrary loans, which is not refundable if the requested item is not obtained for you.
  • ILL requests are made first to libraries that do not charge additional fees for the loan of their materials.  However, in the event that the material you want is only available from a library that charges a fee, please be sure to indicate the maximum additional fee you are willing to pay for the material.
  • ILL requests are submitted promptly by Library personnel to up to ten potential lending libraries.  After that point in the process, the requests can be filled by a lending library in a matter of days, or they may take several weeks.  Please be sure to indicate a date after which you do not want to receive the requested item.
  • Library staff will contact you when the material that you requested is available to pick up, or when it has been determined that it is unavailable for loan.  Please do not contact Library staff about the status of your request.
  • ILL materials are held for ten days for you to pick up, and they circulate for two weeks.  ILL materials may not be renewed.
  • If you do not pick up the requested ILL material within ten days, you will be charged $5.00.  You will be fined $1.00 per day for overdue ILL materials.  You will be charged a minimum of $50.00 for lost ILL materials.
